Ford has used aluminium finish on the gear lever and inside door handles while the handbrake is now pushed a bit right. The highlight of the updated EcoSport is the 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces an additional 10 PS of power, taking the total power output to 100 PS.
The clutch feels a bit more lighter now and the bottom-end is also very responsive. Power is delivered across the RPM range in a very linear manner. In fact, the added power from the engine results in the new EcoSport being much faster than the old model, in both 0-100 km/hr and in-gear acceleration.
The EcoSport also sees improved NVH although the motor still gets vocal at high RPMs. Dynamics have always been a forte of Ford cars and the EcoSport is no different. The compact SUV has a pliant ride and its handling characteristics are also very nice with the steering offering good feel. The MRF tyres have good levels of grip and the brakes have satisfactory bite to stop the vehicle without much drama. The Ford EcoSport has always been a good product offered at a good price point. The new model gets updated features and performance on the diesel engine is even better now.
